Today, two sisters and a cattle herding dog drive out of northern Georgia. Their destination is Asheville, NC, a hub for local food production in the South with an economy that leans on tourism dollars. A friend of mine who’s written a book about veggie oil fuel will be leading us through the conversion. For the next two weeks, ol’ Bess will be poked, prodded, and tinkered with until she agrees to live on a mostly vegetarian diet. We’ll have pictures and video up of the conversion process as it happens, so stay tuned.
New this week:
- The origins of the tour
- Future foraging: the tour crew goes to work finding books, music, articles, and sites (real and virtual) to feed your taste for a radical future.
- Letters for the faithful: a motley gallery of postcards that will be making their way soon to the mailboxes of subscribers.
- Check out the updated map, now with expanded tour stops. Routes and even more stops coming up quick-like.
- New pictures and storytelling are up on the gallery.
